Necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) is a serious intestinal disease that develops primarily in premature babies. NEC occurs when bacteria invades the infant's intestinal wall. The bacteria causes infection and inflammation that can ultimately destroy the intestinal tissue. This often permanently scars or narrows parts of the infant’s intestine, causing lifelong complications.
In severe NEC cases, the complete destruction of intestine tissue causes intestinal perforation and spillage of stool into the infant’s abdomen. This can result in severe infection and, in many cases, death.
A number of studies have found that premature infants fed cow’s-milk based formula are at a significantly greater risk of developing NEC. A 2014 study found extremely preterm infants to have a 320% greater risk of developing NEC if they were fed cow’s-milk based formula or milk fortifier.
About Us
Necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) is a serious intestinal disease that develops primarily in premature babies. NEC occurs when bacteria invades the infant's intestinal wall.
Although studies have shown that an exclusive human milk-based diet decreases the risk of NEC, traditional formula companies do not warn about the potential impact on babies.
And since 2014, human milk-based formula and fortifiers have been available, but the traditional formula manufacturers continue to make their products using cow’s-milk.

We are filing lawsuits against the makers of formula and milk fortifiers for injuries suffered by infants who ingested their products and suffered necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC).
